As you may remember, we were confused by the mention of lupines as part of the food at Habinnas' funereal dinner today. I was immediately reminded of a sketch from Monty Python, which I want to share with you all. Make sure you get to the scene about eating lupines!

Thank you, Jenny! You beat me to posting this. "Lupines" clearly resonate with a British audience, though the connotations are almost the opposite of what they seem to signify in the Cena. For the Brits, they (?I think?) conjure upwardly mobile garden fanatics; for the Romans, cheap primitive food. Though I am pretty sure there is a wolf joke lurking in the lupines.
